Pianisten Shai Maestro dök upp som ett 19-årigt stjärnskott i basisten Avishai Cohens band för fem, sex år sedan.
Med Cohen delar han teknisk briljans och det rytmiskt komplexa. Här finns också folkmusikaliska inslag, men det som dominerar är den sorts jazz som hämtar näring ur europeisk konstmusik.
Det är en förnämlig skiva, rolig att lyssna på. Maestro spelar klokt, bygger gärna sin musik kring enkla figurer och hushållar väl med trions resurser. Trion, med Jorge Roeder på bas och Ziv Ravitz på trummor är något av det starkare man kan höra i genren i dag.
Man vågar nog säga att Maestro fortsätter att vidga trioformatet och dess möjligheter.
